The unit saw profit jump to 18.47 billion Hong Kong dollars (US$2.38 billion), up from HK$9.25 billion a year earlier, as an accounting reclassification now treats a 10.9% stake in Industrial Bank Co. as a financial investment rather than an associate. Excluding that change, Hang Seng Bank said its first-half net profit rose 27%.
