Mr. Dudley said in response to audience questions at Syracuse University speech that the Fed had never said it would trim its bond buys at the most recent FOMC meeting. He noted officials had simply laid out expectations of what could happen if the economy performed as expected, referring to comments from Chairman Ben Bernanke in June that indicated the Fed could trim bond buying at some point this year and end the purchases next year, if the data met forecasts.
