If Smith is playing well, it wouldn’t make any sense to bench him. If the Jets are 3-6 and realistically out of the playoff hunt, in part due to Smith’s struggles, wouldn’t it be better off evaluating Smith over the final seven games than playing Sanchez, who likely won’t be back with the team next season?
