This taught me how to look properly and reproduce things exactly. Copying the masters is really just an extension of that. I have tried doing my own original work, but it looks too representational and I'm never happy with it. Really, the satisfaction I get is from the copying. If I don't do it for a while, I get antsy; I love squeezing out the oil paints, and even the smell of them.
