Or devoting an entire history lesson to making a Viking shield (with the suggestion that the design on its front be “relevant� to pupils’ interests – football or pop music) without any intention, then or later, to explain to them who the Vikings were or the huge influence they had on this country. (Alfred the Great? Who he?)
