Irregular dreams (Méchant Monsieur)

When you spoke all I did was listen to your words
I could not even try to give you an answer.
If I tried, all the sounds sounded like a mumble.
Nevermind, you just stared, fighting to look humble.

When in bed, my eyes closed, I see pictures of you
from time to time, not every night, it would drive me crazy
In these dreams I am dumb, and you just look at me
expecting something nice, or something not too blue.

These fantasies come to me quite regularly
and it seems I'm not programmed to sleep happily.
Actually they don't bring as much pain as they could
And i'm thinking of you much more than I should.

These feelings I'm feeling, I know they sure are plain
Still they ruin at least a whole day of the week
And I should forget them but I must be too weak
Which is why I musn't see you ever again
