Chat alors!! (anglais/français)

This morning, on opening my window, I was quite moved
To see my neighbour’s cat sitting on the roof
Nothing astonishing, you probably think, for a cat
But the poor little kitten was stranded like a rat
How he managed to climb up there, I could not tell
For the roof was pretty high and slippery as well
As everyone knows, a cat has nine lives
But it was too big a risk to jump from so high
So there he was, just sitting, peering to the ground
Waiting for his master to come and get him down



En ouvrant les volets ce matin
J’ai vu, perché sur le toit, le chat du voisin
Rien d’étonnant, me direz-vous, pour un chat
Cependant, le brave matou était piégé comme un rat
Bien qu’il avait réussi à grimper
Pour la descente il était moins téméraire
Car le toit non seulement était glissant
Mais beaucoup trop haut pour un petit chaton
Un chat a beau avoir neuf vies
Sauter d'aussi haut c’était risqué pour lui
Il ne restait plus qu’à prendre son mal en patience
En attendant son maître pour sa délivrance
