In the name of Freedom

Life is a vicious circle it just goes round and round
Sometimes I want to get out of the circle
Before it gets me down
In some cities where you buy a burger
It's just as easy to buy yourself a gun
Then you feel free to shoot your neighbour
Just because he looked you down
Everyone fights for their rights in the name of freedom
But forget about their duty which no longer counts
You can walk by ignoring the hungry beggar, sitting out on the street
After all you’re free to close your eyes, rather than see his needs
Free not to think that one day, perhaps he was just like you or me
Free to keep to yourself instead of giving a helping hand
Free not to speak to a stranger because he comes from another land
Free not to listen to cries, of those who call out in vain
Free not to recognise, that the circle’s becoming insane
So in the name of our so-called Freedom
We keep our hearts enchained
