Let's lend a hand

For the weak across the world stand up and fight
To protect their lives and defend their rights
Children are crying; young and old are dying
Empty stomachs are grumbling; sore feet are stumbling
While the rich are fast asleep after wining and dining

It’s time to put an end to the vain discussions
To the empty words of our politicians
For promises flow sweetly before each election
But when it comes to making the final decisions
The poor are avoided, like the plagues sent from heaven

And left alone to cross the sea of misery
Soon sink into the sand right up to their knees
Friends across the world stand up and fight
To defend their rights and protect their lives
For who knows if in time to come
We could find themselves in the same position?
